Guest Blog by Emma Kaye

Youth voices are more important than ever in creating change in the food movement. Nourish is proud to bring you this youth-written blog by Dietetic Intern Emma Kaye!

The food system, including production, transport, retailing and consumption of food, impacts everyone. However, as the largest and most intersectional generation in history, youth perspectives are positioned to play a crucial part in transforming the food system.

We must work to break the barriers to youth involvement--including finances, land access and limited education--and open the conversation around food. Without youth participation, our food system will never reach its full potential.

Nourish is challenging youth to get involved in the food system and share their perspectives so that their voices will be heard and reflected in the changes.

Adults can also support youth engagement in the food system through discussing the diversity of agriculture careers, talking about where food comes from, making defined spaces for youth in food work, and even growing food together. Join us in our commitment to amplify youth voices to build a brighter food future together!
