April 22nd is Earth Day!
Earth Day is a worldwide annual event held on April 22 that raises awareness about the urgency of environmental issues and encourages taking action. This year's theme is Take Care Of The Planet! This can be as simple as cooking an extra vegetarian meal a week or picking up one piece of trash a day, or as large as cleaning up riverbanks with your community.
Visit the official Earth Day Canada Website to find out more. They have a fantastic list of suggested activities and ways to get involved.
There are many local resources and ways to get involved:
Divert NS has lots of resources for schools such as free guest speakers, bin signage, and activity books for students.
Clean NS offers virtual programs to bring environmental learning to you whether you’re teaching online, in a classroom, or with home learners.
The Ecology Action Centre has webinars available to watch about coastal climate change and biodiversity.
Our Grow Eat Learn resource page has many activities to get hand on in nature and links to other resources such as Where does your food come from? and Go With The Flow Teaching - Taking Action for a Healthier Watershed.
How are you going to help #TakeCareofthePlanet on #EarthDay2021?
