2022 Nourish Food and Film Challenge

Calling all young filmmakers, parents/guardians and educators!

The Nourish Food and Film Challenge is back and this years’ theme is Everybody Eats: The Power of Plants.

Tell a story about what interests you on this topic. Your film could be a call to action for you, your family, your community, your province, your country or the planet.

If you are a school-aged child or youth in Nova Scotia, this is your chance to win big! The winner will receive a prize a $500 camera package from CBC, $500 to support a healthy eating program in your school or community from Nourish Nova Scotia, and your winning film will be screened at Devour! The Food Film Fest (October 2023) and on CBC!

Are you a teacher looking for fun and educational class activities related to food? This would be a great project for individual or group work, and creates a hands-on learning opportunity across grades and subjects. By participating, students can learn about filmmaking, technology & software, culture, community building, nutrition, health and more. Download our Educator Guide to help get you started.

What about parents/guardians looking for educational activities for kids to do over the summer holidays? Whether you are a parent/guardian or even a childcare provider, the Food and Film Challenge is a fantastic indoor or outdoor activity for children and youth to learn about food, culture, the environment and more while working on their writing and filming skills.
