Baked Potatoes
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200℃).
Place the potatoes on a baking sheet or directly on clean oven racks. Bake for 60-90 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the potatoes are tender.
When ready to serve, split almost all the way through with a sharp knife. If adding butter or cheese, add when hot.
Mashed Potato Bowls
Place the potatoes in a large pot. Add salt and enough water to cover. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Cook until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
Drain and return to the pot. Add butter and milk and mash until smooth. For Garlic Mashed Potatoes, add 4 cloves of grated garlic while mashing.
