Golden Carrot Award Winner 2022

Each year, we acknowledge an outstanding Nourish volunteer who has contributed their time and energy to advancing the work of Nourish through the Golden Carrot Award. This year, we’re thrilled to announce that the 2022 Golden Carrot was awarded to… Heather Morse!

Heather has been advocating for healthy food environments for children and youth for over 20 years, and has as a passionate and valuable member of the Nourish Board for the past 4 years. As a former teacher-turned-school administrator, she has seen first hand how food impacts the day to day lives of students. In retirement, she continues to be a champion for her community and beyond. She is humble, dedicated, well-respected and a true advocate for Nourish—she has even played a large role in Nova Scotia being one of the leading provinces in advocating for a national school food program!

Outside of her work with Nourish, Heather generously devotes much of her time to her community. Her long list of roles includes: chair of the Western Kings CHB, co-chair of the Provincial Council of Chairs, vice-chair of the Kingston Greenwood Mental Health Association, board member of the Kings County Community Food Council, and member of the Community Development Committee for Berwick Town Council, to name just a few.

Thank you Heather for the time and passion you have gifted (and continue to gift) to Nourish. We’re a stronger organization because of your tireless work and dedication.
