Nourish Youth Food Fund
The Nourish Youth Food Fund is a one-time funding opportunity aimed at supporting youth leadership in food access & literacy initiatives across Nova Scotia.
The Nourish Youth Food Fund will provide support for:
Youth-Led & Youth-Serving Groups in Nova Scotia. This includes youth-led groups and/or community groups and organizations that serve youth directly. We welcome applications from Mi’kmaw communities and organizations who are working to support food access for First Nations, Metis and Inuit youth.
Schools across Nova Scotia’s Regional Centres of Education, Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial, and Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey. While this funding is not intended to support the delivery of school meal programs (ie. breakfast and lunch), we encourage applications from youth groups (ie. student councils) who wish to lead a project that will enhance food access for young people in their school or community.
Through this fund, eligible applicants can access up to $5000 for food-related initiatives that support at least one of the following:
Enhancing access to nourishing foods for children and youth through healthy snacks, meals, or take-home options;
Engaging young people in food-based programs that enhance food access and/or help to build knowledge, skills and confidence related to food;
Expanding food-based infrastructure through the purchase of small-scale cooking or kitchen equipment that will directly support food access & food literacy programs for children and youth.
Applications are now closed. Thank you for your interest!
