Blue Nose 2019 is a wrap!
This year’s Blue Nose Marathon has come and gone, and it was a full weekend packed with memories and excitement. Here are some highlights from #TeamNourish!
Saturday morning started bright and early with the Lifemark 5k. In addition to 15 runners and walkers, Crunchy the Carrot took to the streets in support of healthy kids.
Next up was the Doctors Nova Scotia youth run, and we were there to cheer on the 2km and 4km race. We had encouraging signs and handed out temporary tattoos of Crunchy the Carrot. It was inspiring to see so many youth giving it their all as they ran by!
This year, Nourish hosted a water station for the Sunday events. We had 20+ volunteers join us for the morning, including six enthusiastic students from J.L Illsey High School. Together, we kept thousands of runners hydrated and motivated all morning with an 80’s workout themed station; complete with music, steppers and an exercise bike. We are so thankful for their time and energy! They truly added to the enthusiastic and creative environment of our water station and helped everything run smoothly.
Special thanks to Cyclesmith for allowing us to spend the morning in front of their location and providing the water for the runners and power for our music!
Drumroll please, for one of our biggest highlights… we’ve almost met our fundraising goal of $10,000! We’re at 97% of our goal and the Charity Challenge donation portal will remain open until July 15th to collect any last minute sponsors. When it officially closes we will announce final numbers and award the team with the highest amount of fundraised dollars with a PRIZE of a private room party courtesy of Dooly’s Bedford.
The Blue Nose Charity Challenge is our largest fundraiser of the year and wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated support of many hands. We are incredibly grateful to every person who donated to support our work. We would also like to send a special thanks to our Team Leads for their work fundraising and recruiting participants: Sherry Jarvis (Nourish Challengers), Monica Rodriguez (Nourish runnHERs), Jodi Posavad (Golden Carrots), Andrea Francheville (Fruits, Veggies and Running Wedgies), Melissa Stewart (Avo-Cardios), and two new group teams, the Push Fitness Halifax “Vegetable PUSHers” and the Flaim Wolsley Hall “Snack-a-Tax”. We couldn’t do it without you all!
Once again, thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s #TeamNourish Charity Challenge a success. Every dollar raised helps support the health and wellbeing of Nova Scotia students.
