Garden Climate Action Legend

Our Garden Climate Action Legend was created in response to growing awareness that youth are experiencing climate change —and its associated anxiety. Gardening can be a source of hope and empower young people to take meaningful action for their communities. The Garden Climate Action Legend sorts gardening into six climate action themes. In this resource, you‘ll find examples and activities for each climate action theme that show how gardening is a form of climate action.

Winter Sowing

Winter sowing is a fun, easy, hands-on way for students to start pollinator plants, vegetables, and herbs in recycled jugs outdoors in winter, where they sprout in DIY mini greenhouses when conditions are right. This guide provides step-by-step instructions, tips, resources, and a printable handout to support teachers and students.

Positive food environments are supportive and inclusive spaces where young people can build positive relationships with food and their bodies. This toolkit is filled with learnings, information, and activities to support you to navigate this topic, increasing your confidence and ultimately impacting the children and youth you care about.
