connecting gardens to curriculum

School / Community: Auburn Drive High School

The primary curriculum support for the Auburn Drive Garden is the O2 program, Options and Opportunities. Everything from Spring garden preparation to autumn harvesting and winter bedding is accomplished by students in the O2 program under the guidance of teacher Greg Daniels. The Learning Centre staff and students prepare seedlings in early Spring. Similarly harvesting, freezing and cooking of produce takes place regularly through the Learning Centre group. Sports Teams have partnered with Learning Centre students to plant and weed. The Green Team of the school conducts garden management tasks from raking, adding compost, watering, weeding, and some guidance coordinated through Green Schools NS.
